Thank you for visiting ccwomenofcolor.org, operated by Corporate Counsel Men of Color, Radio City Station, P.O. Box 2095, New York, NY 10101-2095 (“CCMC”, “us”, or “we”).  This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) applies to personal information collected by CCMC and any of its affiliated entities, including Corporate Counsel Women of Color (“CCWC Entities”).   By using any of the websites operated by CCWC Entities, including the CCMC Virtual Conference Portal (the “Portal”) or websites or portals operated by the CCWC Entities (collectively, the “Sites”), you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by the following Privacy Policy, as well as any other CCMC agreements that apply to information you voluntarily provide to us related to a CCMC activity or event.  If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy you may not use the Sites and you should not provide the CCWC Entities with any personal information.  This Privacy Policy supplements the Terms of Use available https://ccmenofcolor.org/terms-of-use/ which is incorporated herein by reference.  In addition to this Privacy Policy, we may separately provide you with other specific notices regarding your information. Any such separate notice should be read together with this Privacy Policy and, in the event of a conflict between such separate notice and this Privacy Policy, the separate notice shall control.

I. YOUR CONSENT

By using the Sites, becoming a member, registering for or attending a conference or other program or otherwise interacting with CCMC, you consent to the collection and use of information by CCMC as outlined in this Privacy Policy.   We provide this Privacy Policy so that you can always be aware of what information we collect, how we use that information, and under what circumstances that information may be disclosed.   If CCMC changes its privacy policies and procedures, we will post those changes on this page.

II. PRIVACY POLICY APPLIES TO CCMC SITES AND NOT LINKED SITES

CCMC respects and prioritizes the privacy of visitors to our Sites, our members, conference attendees, or anyone who otherwise participates in our programs or interacts with us (“You” or “you”).  This Privacy Policy is intended to explain to you how CCMC collects, uses and safeguards any personal information you provide to us on our Sites.  In addition, the Privacy Policy applies to any personal information you provide to CCMC in any form, whether electronically or on paper, including when you apply for a job, attend a conference, participate in other CCMC programs, sign-up to receive our email newsletters or otherwise interact with CCMC and the Sites.  If you follow a link on our Sites or otherwise browse from our Site to another organization’s website, CCMC’s Privacy Policy is no longer in effect and the other organization’s website terms and conditions and privacy policy apply.  We have no control over any other web sites’ terms and policies except the Sites.

III. WHERE WE COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personal Information You Disclose Voluntarily to CCMC

You may choose to provide your personal information directly to CCMC on an individual basis via the Sites or elsewhere either electronically or on paper (e.g., name and email address, demographic data, information in conference or event registration forms, bar admissions and numbers for CLE).  We only receive your personal information from you when you knowingly provide it to us or as described in this Privacy Policy.

Site Interaction Information Automatically Collected

When you visit our Sites, as is the case with most websites, the Site or its website hosting company automatically collects some information about you/your device (e.g., IP address, browser type, operating system).  Our Sites have certain cookies enabled that are provided by our third-party website hosting company, GoDaddy.  CCMC does not review or use information collected about website visitors or their devices however we do have access to that information.  As is true of most websites, these cookies collect information automatically to track navigation while browsing the Site, administer or improve the Sites and understand Site usage.

Information from Third Parties

On occasion, CCMC may receive information about you from third parties, e.g., job or scholarship references, conference presenter or sponsor referrals.  This information could include your contact or demographic information, place of employment or education, interest or affinity information, and reference information.  CCMC will only collect and use information provided by third parties for the purposes for which the information was given to us (e.g., evaluating a candidate for a job or scholarship, conference planning, considering speakers or sponsors).

IV. TYPES OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT DIRECTLY FROM YOU VOLUNTARILY

Conference/Event Attendance
When you visit the Sites and choose to register for a conference or other CCMC event (the “CCMC Event”), CCMC collects (from you) your registration information so that we can run the event, (e.g., your contact information, employer, event preferences, or dietary restrictions).  If you attend a CCMC Event as an attendee, sponsor, volunteer or presenter, CCMC may collect information that you voluntarily provide us in order to register you for optional events, inform you about conference activities or announcements, otherwise run the event, evaluate health and safety protocols, or provide you with related information before, during or afterwards.  In addition, we collect information you voluntarily provide us in connection with the CCMC Event, such as:

  • Presentation or Event Idea Submissions, e.g., proposals, presentations, your bio.
  • Speaker/Presenter Materials, e.g., presentations, bios, headshots, information for the conference book.
  • CLE Attendance Certificate Requests, e.g., contact information, your state bar admission(s), bar number(s) and the date of your bar admission(s).
  • Virtual Conference Portal User Content, e.g., your posts to discussion groups, your email address for creating a Portal account.

Contact Information Related to Payments Made Via PayPal
CCMC does not collect or receive any payment card or banking information from you or our third-party payment processor, PayPal, which we use to facilitate all payments.  If you pay for CCMC Event or membership fees on the Sites or make a donation to CCMC on the Sites, you will provide payment information to PayPal.  PayPal notifies CCMC of payments made with the name and contact information provided to PayPal during the payment process.

Email/Newsletter Sign Up
When you visit the Sites you may choose to sign-up to receive emails, including newsletter(s), job opening announcements, or communication about CCMC Events.  To voluntarily sign-up you will provide your name and email address, and possibly your telephone number, work address, and interests.  You may have your name removed from any of our emailing lists at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of our emails.

Demographic Information
In some instances, CCMC may collect demographic information that you voluntarily provide, including information related to career experiences.  CCMC uses this information to evaluate the landscape of careers for attorneys or professionals of color and for other purposes directly related to CCMC’s non-profit mission.  CCMC does not use demographic information to determine who may attend an event, receive a scholarship, participate in a CCMC Event, work for CCMC, or for any unlawful purposes.

Job or Scholarship Application Information
When you apply for a job or scholarship you provide us with your resume, application, and other information you choose to provide during the hiring or scholarship application process.

Surveys or Research
If you signed up to receive CCMC email newsletters as mentioned above, attended a conference or event, or are a member, from time to time you may receive informal or formal surveys via email.  Your participation is optional and CCMC only collects information you voluntarily choose to disclose in response to the survey.  CCMC uses survey responses (e.g., conference topics you would like to see included in an event), to tailor CCMC events and programming to members’ and attendees’ needs; to evaluate the effectiveness of our events and programs; in support of our efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion; and for other purposes directly related to CCMC’s non-profit mission.

V. INFORMATION AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED VIA THE SITE

When you visit the Sites, we may automatically collect certain information from or about your device that does not directly identify you. We use this information to operate and manage the Sites, improve functionality, understand how you found out about us and analyze trends and for security. This information includes your IP address, browser or device type, operating system type and version, and possibly referring and exit pages and operating system.

We may use cookies to collect information about your interaction with the Sites when browsing or otherwise using the Site, consistent with many web sites.

VI. INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

CCMC does not rent, sell, or share any personal information about individual users with any unaffiliated third party except (i) to run CCMC Events or operations, and (ii) if necessary to operate the Sites.

From time to time CCMC uses third-party organizations to perform services on our behalf, including packaging and mailing, managing email distribution lists, and to provide assistance running CCMC Events or programming.  We will only provide those third-parties with the information they need to perform the service.

CCMC also reserves the right to disclose your personally identifiable information to respond to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, to defend CCMC against legal claims, or if CCMC believes it is necessary to protect someone from serious harm.

VII. EU or CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS

EU or California residents who believe we handle your personal information, may contact us with questions about your personal information handled by CCMC at [email protected] with PRIVACY INQUIRY in the subject line.  We will consider and respond your request as required or permitted by law.

VII. CHILDREN

CCMC does not knowingly collect or sell any information from or about children under the age of thirteen. If you are under the age of thirteen, do not provide personal information of any kind.
